*Real tips from a local photographer who’s here to make your experience smooth, beautiful, and unforgettable. *
Every week I meet travelers from around the world who are super excited for their photoshoot. And while it may seem as easy as showing up and smiling, there are a few things that can make a big difference in how your photos turn out – and how much you enjoy the experience.
Here are 5 things I really recommend you keep in mind before your session.
1. The Wind is Real – Plan for It
The Caribbean breeze isn’t a maybe. It’s a daily guest. And while it adds a beautiful, natural movement to your photos, it can also make your hair fly in all directions if you’re not ready for it.
What helps:
– Bring a small brush or comb
– Choose a hairstyle that works with the wind – loose braids, waves, low buns, or half-up styles
– Avoid stiff styles or heavy products – we want your look to move naturally, not freeze

2. What You Wear Matters More Than You Think
Your outfit makes a huge impact on the overall look of your photos, especially when you’re surrounded by ocean blues, white sand, and bright sun.

Best colors for a beach photoshoot:
– White, beige, sand, terracotta, olive, dusty pink
– For sunset sessions: burnt orange, mustard, wine red, earthy tones

What to avoid: black, navy blue, and busy or neon patterns.
If you’re doing a family photoshoot in Playa del Carmen or Tulum, try to keep everyone in the same color palette.
3. Always Bring a Change of Clothes
The ocean is tempting – and sometimes we end up playing in the waves. Maybe it’s just your feet, or maybe the whole dress gets soaked. Either way, having something dry to change into makes everything easier.

Bring this with you:
– A change of clothes
– A towel
– Water

4. Sometimes the Hotel Just Isn’t the Best Option
I know it might sound convenient to shoot right at your hotel beach — and sometimes it works! But other times, it’s just not ideal. Maybe the hotel are too hard with outside photographers , or the beach isn’t as pretty as you expected. Or maybe you’re dreaming of something more unique than just a beach — like a jungle vibe, a magical cenote, or one of the hidden gems we have around here.

No worries at all — I know stunning spots all over Riviera Maya, from secret beach corners in Playa del Carmen to epic cenotes near Tulum. Based on where you’re staying and the vibe you’re looking for, I’ll help you find the perfect location for your shoot.

5. The Best Sessions Feel Natural – Not Posed
You don’t need to practice poses or worry about what to do with your hands. I’ll guide you, gently direct when needed, and let the rest unfold naturally. I want you to feel comfortable, connected, and present – that’s when the magic happens.
Whether it’s a couple session, maternity shoot, or family photography in Tulum, we’ll flow with your energy. And if you have kids – don’t worry. We’ll let them be themselves.

Final Thoughts
If you’re coming to Tulum, Playa del Carmen or Cancun and thinking of booking a photoshoot in the Mexican Caribbean, I hope this helped you feel more prepared – and maybe a little excited too.
I’m not just here to take pretty photos. I’m here to create a space where you feel relaxed, joyful, and connected – so that what we capture together feels real, emotional, and timeless.
So if you’re ready, let’s do this. Your story deserves to be told in a place this beautiful.
With love from Mexico,
